Education Program – Primary School Building Project (for 60 kids)
Banks Islands, Vanuatu

Commencement Date: 1 July 2006
Project Duration: 3 years
Project Cost: $60,000

Project Objectives are to:

• Build and equip a new school to facilitate primary education for 60 primary aged children in the Torba Province, Banks Islands, Vanuatu.
• Facilitate the training/provision of local teachers and supervisors for ongoing support and sustainability of the program.
• Explore further need and sustainability for the establishment of other primary schools in the Banks Islands.

The total funding for the project is broken into the following:

• Year One - $42,044 (major cost item is $18,000 for a transportable mill. Purchasing the mill will reduce costs for future projects in Vanuatu as we use local timber and then re-plant trees to ensure re-vegetation)
